Aleta Index: Building a credible information future with AI

In a world of 24-hour news cycles and algorithm-driven social media, the ability to distinguish credible information from noise is more critical than ever. For financial institutions, where decisions are backed by billions, the cost of acting on manipulated or misleading information can be catastrophic. Aleta Index, a venture co-founded by Imperial graduate Anna Tsiganchuk, is tackling this challenge head-on.

Born from an idea for a graduate project, Aleta Index is an AI-powered platform designed to analyse news and social media for misinformation and narrative manipulation. The goal is to move beyond simple fact-checking and instead provide a deeper layer of intelligence. As Anna explains, the platform provides “intelligence and data for financial institutions and solution businesses for more reliable decisions… while building a future of transparent information and credible data sources.”

The core of the technology is a set of sophisticated ML and AI models that have been validated using real-world data. These models have proven they can achieve high accuracy in building source credibility, assessing information trustworthiness and identifying misleading information. This gives clients the confidence to navigate complex information landscapes. The team has already conducted extensive customer research and interviews, connecting with their potential customer base at industry events and conferences.

Having proven the concept, Aleta Index is focused on development excellence and commercialisation. The next 12 months are pivotal, with plans to release their first institutional-level model; launch several data APIs (application programming interfaces) to a marketplace; and secure their first cornerstone customer. The venture has already gained traction, winning competitions and receiving mentions in the press and at conferences.

For Anna, the AI SuperConnector (AISC) programme was instrumental in bridging the gap between a powerful technical idea and a viable business. She credits the programme with providing a crucial education on the commercial side of building a deep-tech company. “It introduced us to the business side of building a startup, including financial operations, investor consideration and landscape, whilst also preparing us for the whole 360 degrees of the founder life,” she says.
